Why return home?

Macroeconomics had a major impact on recruitment trends in Indonesia in 2016. The country's burgeoning middle class continued to spend its new found disposable income, driving a huge increase in consumption with 90% of GDP spent internally during the year.

Skills shortages

This led to significant growth among both start-ups and established companies, particularly in professional services, FMCG, IT, technology and general manufacturing - creating a demand for bilingual professionals which reached an all time high. As a result, demand for specialist skills outstripped supply with a huge number of job vacancies and not enough candidates to fill them.

Who is in demand in the Indonesia market?

As banks focus on improving their IT infrastructure and service platforms for retail customers, we are likely to see demand for IT specialists, technicians and digital marketers. Demand for accounting and finance professionals with business partnering, pricing, tax, treasury and internal audit experience will also be highly sought-after due to Indonesia’s standing as a key regional hub for multinationals.

Thinking of coming home?

Robert Walters Indonesia currently has a Pulang Kampung campaign in place for Indonesians that are overseas looking for career prospects back home. If you’re an overseas Indonesian thinking of returning home, we can help. In Indonesia, we recruit for roles in the following specialisations: accounting & finance, banking & financial services, general management, HR, IT, procurement and supply chain, sales, and marketing, across all industry sectors and count the world’s leading investment banks, multinational blue-chip commercial organisations and innovative SMEs as clients.
