According to the latest Robert Walters’ Salary Survey 2019 – South East Asia & Greater China, companies in Indonesia are on the hunt for digitally literate, English-speaking local talent to fill middle and upper management positions as the country works towards building a digitalised and globalised economy.
As the e-commerce start-up ecosystem continues its rapid growth and companies invest heavily in digitalisation, tech-savvy and bilingual talent with niche skill sets and international experience are well positioned to negotiate higher salaries when changing jobs.
68% of professionals surveyed expect salary increments of more than 10% in 2019, and 20-25% average salary increments are expected for job movers with digital and tech skills in 2019. At least 20% salary rises are foreseen for roles in Human Resources, Information Technology, and Sales & Marketing.
Eric Mary, Country Manager for Indonesia, Robert Walters shared that to attract such bilingual tech-savvy professionals, companies need to not only offer competitive salaries but to also provide long-term career growth opportunities, such as overseas exposure, secondments, professional business courses and job swapping.
In addition, job hopping, especially among digital professionals, is becoming more common in Indonesia as the country faces a government estimated shortfall of 17 million digitally literate workers to reach the 2030 goal for economic growth.
