An exciting opportunity awaits for an accomplished professional to step into the role of Head of Systems Operations at a leading technology-driven organisation in Jakarta. This pivotal position offers you the chance to shape and elevate the entire platform infrastructure and operational landscape, overseeing four critical functions: Cloud Operations, DevOps, Database Administration, and Service Monitoring. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer, you will be entrusted with ensuring that all production systems are robust, scalable, and meticulously controlled. The organisation is committed to best-in-class governance, with a clear separation between operational execution and independent security oversight. You will collaborate closely with IT Security and executive leadership to drive ongoing infrastructure strengthening programmes. If you are passionate about building high-performing teams, implementing rigorous controls, and delivering reliable services in a regulated environment, this role provides the perfect platform for your expertise. Flexible working opportunities and a culture that values knowledge sharing and continuous improvement make this an outstanding career move.
* Take full ownership of end-to-end platform operations by leading CloudOps, DevOps, IT DBA, and Service Monitoring as one integrated function, ensuring seamless collaboration across disciplines.
* Work hand-in-hand with senior leadership and IT Security to implement industry-leading standards for system reliability, auditability, and compliance within a highly regulated sector.
* Enjoy flexible working opportunities in a supportive environment that prioritises training opportunities, professional growth, and cross-team knowledge exchange.
What you'll do:
As Head of Systems Operations based in Jakarta, you will play a central role in orchestrating the day-to-day running of mission-critical infrastructure supporting business operations. Your remit spans guiding multidisciplinary teams responsible for cloud architecture design and maintenance; automating deployment pipelines; safeguarding data integrity through meticulous database administration; and establishing advanced monitoring systems that underpin service reliability. Success in this role hinges on your ability to harmonise diverse technical functions into a unified team that delivers consistent results underpinned by rigorous process adherence. You will champion structured change management practices while fostering open communication channels with IT Security to ensure every action is auditable. By driving key transformation priorities—such as eliminating shared admin accounts or embedding CI/CD as the exclusive route for production changes—you will lay the foundation for sustainable operational excellence. Your efforts will directly impact uptime commitments to customers while reinforcing trust in the organisation’s ability to operate securely within regulatory frameworks.
* Guide, nurture, and develop the CloudOps, DevOps, IT DBA, and Service Monitoring teams into a cohesive infrastructure unit that works collaboratively towards shared goals.
* Design and manage organisational structures, roles, and responsibilities within each sub-function to ensure clarity of purpose and eliminate overlap or ambiguity.
* Oversee budgeting for infrastructure and platform operations with accountability for cost analysis and resource optimisation to maximise value.
* Regularly report on performance metrics, operational challenges, and project status updates to the Chief Technology Officer to maintain transparency and alignment.
* Architect secure, scalable cloud infrastructure encompassing server management, network segmentation between production and non-production environments, load balancing solutions, and high availability systems.
* Implement robust automation pipelines (CI/CD) as the sole pathway for changes in production environments while enforcing multi-layered authentication and access restrictions.
* Administer production databases by enforcing unique administrator identities, layered authentication protocols, tiered approval processes for sensitive changes, comprehensive audit logging practices, encryption standards compliance, regular backups, and performance tuning.
* Establish comprehensive service monitoring frameworks covering observability across all layers—network flows, control plane activities—and enable real-time anomaly detection with prompt escalation procedures.
* Execute change management procedures in line with established policies; provide verifiable evidence for audits conducted by IT Security; support disaster recovery planning and incident response initiatives.
* Drive the first-year agenda by restructuring teams, eliminating shared database accounts in favour of unique credentials per administrator, enforcing CI/CD-only production changes, securing Kubernetes API access points, activating long-term audit logs protected from deletion, enhancing outbound transaction monitoring capabilities, and developing disaster recovery plans.
What you bring:
To excel as Head of Systems Operations you will bring a wealth of practical experience gained from managing sophisticated technology environments where reliability is paramount. Your background should reflect not only technical mastery but also an empathetic approach to team development—enabling individuals from varied specialisms such as cloud engineering or database administration to work together effectively. You are known for your attention to detail when it comes to enforcing access controls or documenting every change made within live systems. Your interpersonal skills allow you to build trust both within your team and across departments like IT Security or executive leadership. A commitment to continuous learning ensures you stay abreast of evolving best practices around automation tooling or compliance mandates relevant to regulated industries. Above all else your sense of responsibility means you never compromise on process integrity—even when faced with urgent deadlines—ensuring every action taken can withstand external scrutiny.
* Minimum five years’ experience in infrastructure management or site reliability engineering roles with at least two years leading cross-disciplinary teams spanning cloud operations, automation/DevOps functions, database administration, and monitoring.
* Deep proficiency in Linux operating systems complemented by hands-on experience managing Windows-based environments within production settings.
* Proven track record managing large-scale cloud infrastructures (Alibaba Cloud/AWS/GCP), including network configuration management, identity/access controls implementation, public exposure mitigation strategies.
* Extensive experience administering Kubernetes clusters alongside designing secure CI/CD pipelines tailored for production workloads.
* Comprehensive understanding of production-grade database administration (PostgreSQL/MySQL or equivalent), covering access governance frameworks, schema/configuration change controls with tiered approvals/audits.
* Demonstrated capability building observability stacks—logging/monitoring solutions—for complex distributed systems operating at scale.
* Familiarity executing formal change management processes aligned with policy requirements; adept at maintaining detailed audit trails across all operational activities.
* Comfortable working transparently under independent information security oversight—readily providing evidence for audits or investigations as required.
