What you'll do:


As Head of Business – Food Ingredient, you will play an instrumental role in shaping both short-term results and long-term vision for the department. You will be responsible for managing financial performance by overseeing P&L activities while continuously seeking out new business opportunities through principal partnerships. Your ability to organise meetings efficiently ensures smooth communication across all levels—whether resolving customer queries or addressing internal process improvements. By representing the organisation at key industry events and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders—including customers, principals, regulatory bodies—you will uphold the company’s reputation as a trusted provider of value-added solutions. Success in this role requires balancing strategic oversight with hands-on involvement in staff development; you’ll motivate your team through coaching sessions while delegating tasks thoughtfully so everyone can contribute meaningfully towards shared goals.

  • Develop comprehensive annual operating plans and budgets for the food department, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Oversee all aspects of departmental P&L management, consistently achieving budgeted sales targets, profit objectives, and contribution margins.
  • Identify and source new principals to enhance the current product portfolio or support strategic expansion plans, submitting recommendations for senior management approval.
  • Organise and lead regular management meetings with internal teams and external principals, addressing business processes, customer needs, staff performance, and operational challenges.
  • Negotiate pricing with principals, estimate landed costs accurately, manage government documentation requirements, and liaise with relevant authorities such as customs when necessary.
  • Champion continuous improvement by generating ideas and implementing initiatives that drive organisational development within the department.
  • Represent the company at local and international industry associations, symposiums, exhibitions, and trade-related events as required.
  • Provide clear leadership and direction to all department staff members, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth.
  • Motivate, train, coach, and evaluate sales team members to ensure achievement of sales budgets while identifying strengths and areas for development early on.
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively among sales staff based on their skills and capacity to maximise productivity towards departmental goals.


What you bring:


To excel as Head of Business – Food Ingredient you will bring extensive experience from Indonesia’s food sector combined with academic credentials in food technology or nutrition. Your background should include significant exposure to both sales/marketing functions as well as direct management responsibilities involving P&L oversight. You have demonstrated success building productive relationships—with principals customers colleagues alike—while navigating complex regulatory environments confidently.

  • Bachelor’s degree (S1) in Food Technology or equivalent qualification specialising in food nutrition is essential for this position.
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in sales and marketing within Indonesia’s food industry is required along with deep knowledge of relevant regulations.
  • Proven track record over at least 5 years managing sales teams including full P&L responsibility as well as consistent achievement of sales budgets.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with existing principals while sourcing new partners to expand product offerings strategically.
  • Experience conducting market research; preparing detailed reports; updating stakeholders on industry trends; coordinating principal visits; forecasting stock volumes accurately.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills are needed for motivating teams; coaching individuals; evaluating performance; identifying career advancement opportunities among staff members.
  • Strong organisational abilities are vital for planning meetings; solving business issues; handling customer enquiries; managing credit applications; driving collections processes proactively.
  • Excellent communication skills are necessary for maintaining rapport with customers through regular engagement—visits calls follow-ups—and managing internal processes related to technical matters or complaints.
  • Ability to represent the organisation professionally at industry events both domestically internationally contributing positively towards brand reputation.
