Business Unit Head (Animal Nutrition)
A well-established multinational organisation is seeking a Business Unit Head – Animal Nutrition to lead its established Animal Nutrition division in Indonesia. This is a newly created senior leadership position with responsibility for shaping the division’s national strategy, driving sustainable commercial growth, managing the full P&L, and leading a multi-location team across Indonesia.
What you'll do:
As Business Unit Head – Animal Nutrition, you will take overall responsibility for the strategic, commercial, and financial performance of the division in Indonesia. This newly created position will require a commercially minded leader who can balance long-term strategy with hands-on execution and strong customer engagement.
The role requires broad exposure across the Animal Nutrition industry. You will engage with customers across feedmills, farms, premix, feed additives, dairy, ruminant, and livestock-related segments, while working closely with suppliers and principals to align product, technical, and commercial strategies.
-
Develop and execute the national business strategy and annual business plan for the Animal Nutrition division, covering all relevant market segments across Indonesia.
-
Take full responsibility for P&L management, including revenue, gross margin, operating costs, profitability, and overall financial performance.
-
Manage the division’s budget, financial statements, forecasting, sales targets, and commercial planning, ensuring performance remains aligned with business objectives.
-
Drive business growth through strategic account development, new business opportunities, market expansion, and deeper penetration of existing customers.
-
Build and maintain strong relationships with major customers and senior decision-makers across feedmills, farms, premix businesses, dairy, ruminant, and other livestock segments.
-
Lead strategic account planning for high-value customers and develop long-term partnerships that support sustainable business growth.
-
Monitor sales performance against budget and forecast, identify gaps, and implement appropriate corrective actions.
-
Lead, coach, and develop a geographically distributed commercial team across Jakarta, Medan, and Sidoarjo, building capability, accountability, and succession within the organisation.
-
Manage department heads and sales teams effectively, ensuring alignment between national strategy and local commercial execution.
-
Work closely with international principals and suppliers to align product strategy, technical support, product availability, pricing, and joint business planning.
-
Negotiate and manage strategic supplier relationships, balancing principal objectives with local market requirements and commercial priorities.
-
Monitor market trends, competitor movements, customer requirements, and regulatory developments to identify opportunities and risks.
-
Translate market intelligence into actionable commercial strategies and communicate relevant insights to regional and global stakeholders.
-
Represent the organisation at key customer meetings, industry events, regional business meetings, and other strategic engagements.
-
Travel domestically and internationally as required, including regional meetings and occasional engagements with stakeholders in Europe.
-
Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture where knowledge-sharing, coaching, and continuous development are encouraged.
What you bring:
Beyond technical and industry knowledge, the successful candidate must demonstrate strong leadership, commercial judgement, financial acumen, and the ability to build relationships with major customers. You should be comfortable owning a P&L and making decisions around budget, pricing, margins, forecasting, and overall business strategy.
The role requires a leader who can operate at both strategic and operational levels: engaging senior customers and regional stakeholders while also developing and managing a sizeable team across multiple locations.
-
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Veterinary Medicine, Animal Science, or a closely related discipline.
-
10–15+ years of experience within Animal Nutrition, Feed Additives, Animal Health, or closely related industries.
-
Current or recent experience at Business Head, Country Manager, Division Head, Head of Business, or equivalent senior commercial leadership level is strongly preferred.
-
Proven experience managing a P&L, including financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, revenue, margin, and profitability.
-
Strong track record of developing and managing key accounts and major customers within the animal nutrition/livestock ecosystem.
-
Established senior-level network with major customers, particularly within feedmills, farms, premix, dairy, ruminant, and livestock segments.
-
Broad commercial exposure across different Animal Nutrition segments rather than experience limited to a single product or customer category.
-
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute business strategy and translate market intelligence into commercial action.
-
Proven experience leading and developing multi-location teams, with strong coaching and people-development capabilities.
-
Strong supplier/principal management experience, including joint business planning and commercial negotiations.
-
Experience within a multinational, regional, or established distribution environment is preferred.
-
Strong commercial understanding of pricing, margin management, market development, and business planning.
-
Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the maturity to engage senior customers, principals, and international stakeholders.
-
Strong command of English, both written and spoken, for regional and international collaboration.
-
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
What sets this company apart:
The organisation places strong emphasis on collaboration, professional development, and knowledge-sharing. The successful candidate will have exposure to regional and international stakeholders, including opportunities to participate in regional meetings and international engagements in Europe.

If you are an experienced Animal Nutrition leader with strong commercial, financial, and people-management capabilities, an established network among major customers, and the ambition to lead a national business, this is an opportunity to take ownership of an established and well-performing division with significant scope for continued growth.
