As the local director, you’ll be at the heart of launching exciting sales initiatives, delivering outstanding service, and championing the highest standards of safety and compliance. With a vibrant mix of commercial focus and operational leadership, this role offers you a thrilling platform to make a real difference—while enjoying flexible working opportunities and exposure to dynamic regional markets.

  • Step into a pivotal position as the local director for Indonesia, where you’ll drive strategic expansion across diverse sectors such as chemical manufacturing and microbial control solutions, making your mark on the industry.
  • Immerse yourself in a collaborative environment that brings together cross-functional teams from Purchasing, R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Management, and Technical Support—fueling your professional growth and knowledge sharing every day.
  • Take advantage of flexible working opportunities that empower your work-life balance while connecting with stakeholders throughout South East Asia and participating in high-impact industry events.

What you'll do:

As Country Sales Manager (Chemical), you’ll be at the forefront of shaping the commercial future of operations in Indonesia. Your days will be filled with energising activities: developing actionable strategies that spark revenue growth; nurturing long-term partnerships with influential clients; preparing detailed business plans that set clear goals for both your team and yourself; collaborating closely with departments like Technical Support and Marketing to anticipate customer needs; analysing market data to keep your sales pipeline thriving; and representing the company at trade shows and conferences to stay ahead of emerging trends. To shine in this role, you’ll blend commercial insight with interpersonal sensitivity, regulatory awareness, and a passion for achieving results through teamwork—making every day rewarding and impactful.

  • Design and execute tailored sales strategies for the entire product portfolio in Indonesia, ensuring every initiative aligns with ambitious business goals.
  • Identify fresh business opportunities by engaging new clients and expanding existing accounts through consultative partnership-building.
  • Craft detailed business plans aimed at surpassing bold sales targets for assigned customers, consistently tracking progress against key performance indicators.
  • Nurture and strengthen customer relationships across functions like Purchasing, R&D, Regulatory Affairs, and Quality Management to deliver exceptional service and satisfaction.
  • Lead regular strategy sessions with senior management of client organisations to understand their evolving needs and match them with innovative company solutions.
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales objectives by providing an outstanding customer experience that goes above and beyond expectations.
  • Continuously refine lead generation plans to build a robust pipeline of promising sales opportunities that reflect current market trends.
  • Showcase best-in-class sales practices through precise forecasting, comprehensive call reports, ongoing market monitoring, competition analysis, and effective relationship management.
  • Work hand-in-hand with internal teams—including Technical Support, Regulatory Affairs, R&D, and Marketing—to communicate customer requirements and share valuable market insights.
  • Ensure timely debt collection according to agreed payment terms while maintaining positive client relationships throughout every interaction.

What you bring:

To truly thrive as Country Sales Manager (Chemical), you’ll bring deep expertise from the chemical industry—ideally gained through progressive roles focused on technical sales or business development. Your educational background will empower your analytical thinking while your language skills help you connect authentically with both local partners and international colleagues. You have a proven history of building trust-based relationships across functional boundaries—whether negotiating contracts or collaborating on product innovation. Your attention to detail ensures accuracy in forecasting and reporting; your adaptability means you’re always ready for changing market conditions. Most importantly, your commitment to ethical conduct sets you apart as someone who values transparency and mutual respect. The ideal candidate flourishes when working collaboratively towards shared goals—supporting others’ development as much as their own—and consistently delivers on commitments even under pressure.

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Science, Chemistry or Engineering is required to provide a strong academic foundation for this multifaceted role.
  • Business fluency in English is essential for effective communication across regional teams; proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia at native speaker level is highly desirable for local stakeholder engagement.
  • At least 10-15 years’ advanced experience within the chemical sector—particularly in decorative coatings, industrial or wood coating applications, plastics or polymer industries—is expected for success.
  • Proven technical skills in microbial control solutions combined with hands-on experience in technical sales within chemical manufacturing environments are vital.
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport at all organisational levels—both internally among colleagues and externally with clients—ensures seamless collaboration.
  • Excellent computer literacy alongside strong written and oral communication skills are necessary for reporting and presenting complex information clearly.
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects involving Purchasing, R&D, Regulatory Affairs or Quality Management teams is highly valued.
  • A structured approach to evaluating work experiences coupled with agility in applying learnings to new situations supports continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout South East Asia—and occasionally outside regular office hours—demonstrates flexibility required by this regional remit.
  • Commitment to upholding Occupational Health & Safety standards as well as relevant environmental legislation ensures compliance at all times.
