Trade Marketing Manager (FMCG) Salary: Competitive and based on experience Location: Jakarta Keywords: collaborative, channel-specific, FMCG, confectionery, food and beverage, trade marketing, distribution, visibility, sell-out, supportive leadership

A leading FMCG organisation in Jakarta is seeking a Trade Marketing Manager to drive the development and execution of trade marketing strategies across General Trade, Modern Trade, and Horeca channels. This pivotal role bridges sales and marketing, ensuring brand plans are translated into impactful channel programmes that boost visibility, distribution, and sell-out at the point of purchase. You will be empowered to shape trade marketing initiatives from end to end, working closely with both internal teams and distributor networks. The company offers a supportive environment where your expertise in trade marketing will be valued, and you will have the opportunity to make a tangible impact on market presence and product performance. Flexible travel opportunities to key markets and cross-functional collaboration are integral parts of this role, making it ideal for those who thrive in communal settings and enjoy nurturing relationships across teams.

  • You will lead the creation and execution of annual trade marketing plans tailored to diverse channels, ensuring alignment with brand and category objectives while maximising outlet-level visibility.
  • You will collaborate extensively with sales, marketing, finance, and distributor partners to deliver effective in-store activations, promotional mechanics, and POSM that drive conversion.
  • You will have the opportunity to manage budgets strategically, analyse market activity, monitor programme performance, and support new product launches with channel-specific activation plans.

What you'll do:

As a Trade Marketing Manager based in Jakarta, you will play a central role in shaping how products are presented across various retail channels. Your day-to-day responsibilities involve collaborating closely with sales teams and distributor networks to ensure that trade programmes are executed efficiently. You will design creative activation strategies for stores, manage budgets thoughtfully to maximise impact, analyse market data for actionable insights, and build strong relationships with key stakeholders. Success in this role requires an ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on operational work—whether you are rolling out new promotional mechanics or adapting national campaigns for local relevance. You will also support new product launches through targeted channel activations while mentoring your team members. Your efforts will directly influence product visibility at the point of purchase, helping drive sell-out rates while maintaining a communal approach that values teamwork across functions.

  • Develop comprehensive annual trade marketing plans and calendars that align with brand and category goals across General Trade, Modern Trade, and Horeca channels.
  • Design and implement engaging in-store activation programmes, promotional mechanics, and point-of-sale materials that enhance product visibility and encourage consumer conversion at outlets.
  • Work collaboratively with the sales team and distributor network to ensure seamless execution of trade programmes on the ground, including tracking results and evaluating return on investment.
  • Manage allocation of trade marketing budgets across multiple channels, optimising spend to achieve volume growth and share targets.
  • Partner with brand and marketing teams to adapt national campaigns into channel-specific activation plans that resonate locally.
  • Build strong working relationships with key distributors, account teams, and regional sales managers to foster trust and ensure effective programme delivery.
  • Analyse market trends and competitor activity at the point of sale, translating insights into actionable recommendations for trade initiatives.
  • Monitor and report on trade programme performance metrics such as distribution coverage, share of shelf space, and promotional uplift.
  • Support new product launches by developing channel-specific go-to-market strategies and activation plans that drive awareness and trial.
  • Lead a small trade marketing team while coordinating cross-functionally with sales, marketing, finance, and other departments.

What you bring:

Your proven experience as a Trade Marketing Manager within FMCG environments equips you with deep understanding of channel dynamics—especially within food & beverage or confectionery sectors. You bring strong interpersonal skills that allow you to nurture relationships across sales teams, distributors, account managers, and regional leaders. Your ability to balance strategic planning with operational execution ensures that every initiative delivers measurable results. You possess commercial insight when managing budgets; your analytical mindset helps translate market data into actionable recommendations. Your communication style fosters cooperation among cross-functional teams while supporting your own team’s growth. With a bachelor’s degree in business or marketing—and willingness to travel—you demonstrate commitment to achieving shared goals through collaborative effort.

  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in trade marketing or channel marketing within FMCG environments is essential for this position.
  • At least 2-3 years at a managerial level overseeing trade or combined sales-marketing roles is required.
  • Prior experience working in food & beverage or confectionery categories is highly preferred due to channel dynamics and seasonality.
  • Strong knowledge of Indonesian trade channels—including General Trade, Modern Trade—and distributor operations is necessary.
  • Ability to work both strategically (planning budgets, analysing ROI) and operationally (field visits, distributor coordination) is important.
  • Experience managing trade or activation budgets with commercial acumen and understanding of P&L thinking is expected.
  • Excellent communication skills enabling you to influence cross-functionally among sales teams, marketing colleagues, and third-party distributors are vital.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related field is required for this role.
  • Willingness to be based in Jakarta with flexibility for regular travel to key markets is needed.
  • Proven track record running successful trade programmes within established FMCG companies is advantageous.
