A leading end-to-end plastic waste management company is seeking a General Manager to spearhead its Jakarta operations and drive ambitious expansion plans across Indonesia. What you'll do:
As General Manager Waste Management based in Jakarta, you will be entrusted with overseeing every aspect of the company’s Indonesian operations. Your day-to-day activities will involve managing a talented local team across multiple functions while ensuring that all operational targets are met or exceeded. You will work collaboratively with headquarters to align local strategies with broader corporate goals while maintaining accountability for financial outcomes.

A significant part of your role will be focused on expanding the client portfolio—particularly targeting hotels, office buildings, malls, and cooking oil producers—by developing compelling proposals that highlight the company’s unique ability to provide actionable recycling data. You will also play an instrumental role in setting up new client accounts from scratch while nurturing existing relationships through responsive service delivery.

  • Oversee all daily operations of the Jakarta-based waste management enterprise, ensuring seamless service delivery and continuous process improvement across all functions.
  • Take full responsibility for profit and loss (P&L) management while driving business growth through strategic planning and execution aligned with organisational objectives.
  • Maintain direct communication lines with headquarters, providing regular updates on performance metrics and strategic initiatives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse local team of staff members across sales, operations, account management, and administration to achieve operational excellence.
  • Identify new business opportunities by building relationships with prospective clients in sectors such as hospitality, commercial real estate, retail malls, and food production.
  • Set up robust waste management solutions for new clients while ensuring existing client satisfaction through attentive service and data-driven reporting.
  • Secure at least 2 (two) new key clients by year-end through effective networking, consultative selling approaches, and tailored solution proposals.
  • Implement best practices in sustainability reporting by leveraging the company’s unique data capabilities to add value for clients’ internal ESG goals.
  • Collaborate closely with headquarters during the initial transition phase to ensure alignment on company culture, processes, and long-term vision.
  • Prepare regular reports on operational performance, financial results, client feedback, and market trends for review by senior leadership.


What you bring:
To excel as General Manager Waste Management in this forward-thinking organisation, you will bring substantial experience from consulting firms or large-scale corporations where you have honed your ability to manage teams effectively. Your background should include several years of hands-on responsibility for both people management and business outcomes—ideally within sectors related to operations or strategic growth initiatives. Fluency in English is critical for engaging seamlessly with international colleagues; if you also speak Korean fluently this will be an added plus point. Your approach should be grounded in empathy and collaboration—valuing each team member’s contribution while fostering an inclusive environment that encourages open communication. Experience within sustainability or environmental services would be beneficial but is not required; what matters most is your commitment to responsible leadership practices that prioritise both commercial success and positive social impact.   • Demonstrated experience in consulting roles or large corporate environments where you have managed complex projects or business units successfully over several years.
  • Proven track record of line management responsibilities for at least three years within teams focused on operations or business development.
  • Fluency in English is essential for effective communication with international stakeholders; proficiency in Korean is highly desirable.
  • A collaborative mindset that values teamwork alongside an entrepreneurial approach to problem-solving and scaling business operations efficiently.
  • Strong professional integrity combined with accountability in leadership roles where you have inspired trust among colleagues and external partners alike.
  • Experience working within sustainability-focused industries or organisations committed to environmental stewardship is considered an advantage but not mandatory.
