This pivotal role offers you the opportunity to shape procurement strategy across multiple manufacturing sites, driving innovation, cost efficiency, and operational excellence in a company that blends startup dynamism with corporate professionalism. With a focus on sustainable sourcing and quality assurance, you will play a key part in supporting the company's ambitious growth trajectory while enjoying a flexible hybrid work arrangement, generous employee benefits, and a collaborative culture that values both meritocracy and communal support.
- Play a central role in transforming procurement into a strategic business unit that drives value, innovation, and sustainability across all manufacturing operations.
- Enjoy a unique blend of startup energy and established corporate clarity within an inclusive environment that supports your professional development and well-being.
- Benefit from flexible working arrangements, comprehensive insurance coverage, employee discounts on products, access to micro gym facilities at HQ, and clear pathways for career advancement.
What you'll do:
As Head of Procurement, you will be entrusted with elevating the procurement function into a strategic powerhouse that underpins every aspect of the organisation’s success. Your day-to-day activities will involve crafting forward-thinking procurement strategies tailored to the fast-evolving healthy snack sector; overseeing complex sourcing operations for both raw materials and packaging; optimising inventory levels for maximum efficiency; leading cost optimisation efforts without compromising on quality; building strong supplier relationships rooted in trust and shared values; ensuring compliance with rigorous food safety standards; championing sustainability initiatives; mentoring a talented team; collaborating cross-functionally with R&D, Finance, Operations; and leveraging advanced technology platforms for data-driven decision-making. Your ability to connect people, processes, and purpose will be instrumental in achieving operational excellence while supporting the company’s mission of delivering healthy products responsibly.
- Develop and implement multi-year procurement strategies that align closely with overall business objectives and foster long-term organisational growth.
- Drive innovative sourcing initiatives by introducing hedging tactics and robust risk mitigation plans to ensure supply chain resilience.
- Oversee the end-to-end sourcing and purchasing process for both direct materials such as specialty ingredients (nuts, seeds, natural sweeteners) and indirect materials like packaging.
- Optimise inventory management systems to balance working capital efficiency with uninterrupted production flows across all manufacturing sites.
- Lead cost-saving projects through value engineering while maintaining product quality standards and upholding brand integrity.
- Monitor global commodity markets to anticipate price fluctuations and proactively develop alternative sourcing strategies as needed.
- Build and nurture long-term partnerships with key suppliers to secure competitive pricing, consistent quality, and adherence to ethical practices.
- Collaborate closely with Quality Assurance and R&D teams to ensure all procured materials meet stringent food safety standards (including HACCP, GMPs) and relevant certifications (Organic, Non-GMO).
- Champion responsible sourcing practices that comply with environmental regulations and uphold ethical labour standards throughout the supply chain.
- Hire, train, mentor, and inspire a high-performing procurement team dedicated to strategic sourcing excellence and continuous improvement.
What you bring:
To excel as Head of Procurement in this forward-thinking FMCG organisation, your background should reflect substantial experience managing complex procurement functions within the food industry—ideally with exposure to healthy snack categories or agricultural supply chains. You will bring not only technical expertise but also a collaborative mindset that thrives on building connections between teams. Your educational foundation should include at least a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degrees or professional certifications are highly regarded. Familiarity with modern ERP systems and e-procurement tools is essential for driving data-led decisions. Beyond technical skills, your proven ability to foster supportive relationships—both internally among colleagues and externally with suppliers—will set you apart. A passion for sustainability combined with an empathetic approach to team mentorship ensures you can lead transformation initiatives effectively while nurturing talent at every level.
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in procurement roles within FMCG or food manufacturing environments, including 5 years in senior leadership positions overseeing large teams or multi-site operations.
- Proven expertise in managing procurement for healthy snack categories or similar food product lines involving agricultural supply chains.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance or related discipline is required; MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification is highly desirable.
- Professional certifications such as CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management), CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional), or Lean Six Sigma are considered valuable assets.
- Demonstrated proficiency in ERP systems (such as SAP or Oracle) as well as e-procurement platforms (like Ariba or Coupa), coupled with strong financial acumen for budgeting and cost analysis.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills enabling effective collaboration with internal stakeholders (R&D, QA, Finance) as well as external partners (suppliers).
- Deep understanding of sustainable sourcing practices for commodities such as cocoa or palm oil within regulated environments.
- Track record of successfully implementing change management initiatives that drive organisational transformation while fostering an inclusive team culture.
- Experience developing supplier relationship management programmes focused on long-term value creation rather than short-term gains.
- Ability to mentor diverse teams towards continuous improvement goals while promoting knowledge sharing across departments.
