What you'll do:

As Country Legal and Government Affairs (Manufacturing) you will play a vital role in shaping the organisation’s approach to legal governance and government relations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating closely with internal teams to ensure that all corporate permits are managed efficiently while maintaining robust relationships with key external stakeholders such as government authorities and industry associations. You will oversee litigation handling processes from contingency planning through dispute resolution while guiding the legal aspects of business transformation initiatives. Your expertise will be crucial in representing the company during negotiations with governmental bodies or regulatory inspections. By supervising contract reviews and risk assessments you will help safeguard operational integrity across all functions. Success in this role requires a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement combined with meticulous attention to detail in regulatory compliance.

  • Lead all legal governance activities by overseeing regulatory compliance, corporate legal affairs, and advisory functions to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, governance standards, and operational requirements.
  • Govern the management of corporate permits, operational licensing processes, expatriate permits, statutory documentation, and regulatory coordination to guarantee business continuity and full compliance.
  • Establish and maintain strategic engagement with government authorities, ministries, regulatory institutions, industry associations, and national level trade unions to support operational sustainability and external affairs objectives.
  • Direct litigation handling by managing legal contingency planning, dispute resolution processes, escalation procedures, and coordination with external legal counsel on strategic or high-risk matters.
  • Guide the legal aspects during business transformation initiatives including conducting due diligence, coordinating governance efforts, and managing stakeholder relationships throughout change processes.
  • Coordinate strategic government affairs by escalating public affairs issues as needed while facilitating stakeholder engagement and regulatory communication to align with business direction.
  • Represent the organisation in legal negotiations with government bodies as well as in litigation matters, regulatory inspections, labour-related legal discussions, and other strategic external engagements.
  • Oversee contract review processes by managing legal documentation workflows, providing consultation services across departments, handling corporate secretarial matters, and delivering legal support for operational and commercial functions.
  • Supervise legal risk assessment activities by implementing regulatory risk mitigation strategies, conducting compliance investigations as required, enforcing governance practices across all operations, and managing escalation procedures.

  • Proven experience in investment procedures such as foreign direct investment (FDI), corporate transactions like mergers & acquisitions (M&A), post-merger integration (PMI), and conducting thorough due diligence processes.
  • Strong understanding of good corporate governance principles coupled with high ethical standards for business conduct.
  • Familiarity with government affairs frameworks including public affairs processes for effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Expertise in litigation management encompassing dispute resolution procedures tailored to complex organisational needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate regulatory compliance requirements including permit acquisition protocols and licensing procedures.
