What you'll do:

As GM Legal, you will play an integral role in guiding the organisation through an ever-evolving regulatory landscape. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating closely with senior leaders to provide expert legal counsel on a broad spectrum of issues impacting the business. • Oversee all legal matters related to the company’s operations, ensuring full compliance with local laws and regulations while providing sound legal advice to senior management.
• Develop, implement, and maintain effective legal strategies that align with organisational objectives and mitigate potential risks across various business units.
• Manage relationships with external counsel, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure the company’s interests are well represented and protected at all times.
• Lead, mentor, and nurture a team of legal professionals by fostering an environment of continuous learning, collaboration, and professional development.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to safeguard the company’s interests.
• Monitor changes in legislation relevant to the retail sector and proactively advise on necessary adjustments to policies or procedures.
• Support internal teams by providing timely guidance on employment law matters, intellectual property rights, dispute resolution, and corporate governance issues.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of legal considerations into business processes and strategic initiatives.
• Handle complex litigation cases when required, working closely with external partners to achieve favourable outcomes for the organisation.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for GM Legal will bring substantial experience from similar roles within large-scale organisations where they have demonstrated their ability to manage complex legal portfolios. Your background should include significant exposure to commercial contract negotiation as well as hands-on involvement in compliance matters relevant to the retail industry. You will possess exceptional communication skills that enable you to translate intricate legal requirements into actionable guidance for colleagues across different functions.

• At least 16 years of working experience within large organisations, preferably within the retail or consumer goods sector.
• A recognised law degree combined with admission to practice law in Indonesia.
• Proven track record in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial contracts with attention to detail and risk mitigation.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders at all levels.
• Sharp individual with strong communication skills to convince stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams in a collaborative environment focused on shared success.
• Experience managing relationships with external counsel and regulatory authorities while representing organisational interests effectively.
• Excellent analytical skills coupled with sound judgement for identifying potential risks and recommending practical solutions aligned with business goals.
