We're on the hunt for a sharp Legal & Compliance Manager to be the backbone of a multinational engineering consulting group, based in Jakarta.

The Legal & Compliance Manager – Asia and International is responsible for ensuring the businesses across the Asia region (including Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, Philippines) and the International Region (all Pacific countries and/or outside Asia where the company operates or creates an entity) remain fully compliant with all relevant statutory, regulatory, and internal requirements.

This role will oversee the timely completion of all compliance activities across these geographies—including Company Secretarial duties, Right to Operate, Finance and Tax compliance, support for establishing and closing entities, Employment compliance, Health & Safety compliance, and Employee Mobility compliance.

What you'll do

  • Oversee and coordinate all compliance activities for the company's Asia and International businesses.
  • Ensure timely completion of Company Secretarial tasks (e.g., board meetings/minutes, statutory filings), Right to Operate requirements (e.g., business licences), Finance and Tax obligations (e.g., tax filings, audits).
  • Support establishment and closure of legal entities across new/existing markets.
  • Monitor Employment compliance (e.g., contracts, registrations) and Health & Safety requirements in each jurisdiction.
  • Manage Employee Mobility compliance (e.g., immigration support, tracking days in-country).
  • Develop and maintain an Asia and International Compliance Activity Register; provide regular reporting on status to leadership.
  • Work closely with International team members as well as Finance & Legal teams, Health & Safety, People & Culture, Mobility teams.
  • Liaise with external suppliers/advisors to remain up-to-date with changing compliance requirements across the region.
  • Collaborate with the Compliance Risk team to ensure prioritisation of critical compliance activities.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes or introduce efficiencies in how compliance is managed across regions.
  • Prepare high-quality reports for senior management on compliance status, risks, trends, or required actions.
  • Provide advice and guidance to local offices/entities on best practice approaches to compliance.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Law or Business Administration (or similar discipline).
  • 10+ years’ commercial experience within large, complex global organisations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-jurisdictional compliance activities.
  • Strong understanding of statutory/regulatory environments across Asia-Pacific preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail; highly organised approach.
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to interpret complex regulations/requirements.
  • Advanced report writing skills; able to communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders.
  • Solid interpersonal skills; comfortable working collaboratively across teams/cultures.
  • Ability to proactively identify risks/issues and recommend solutions.
