Tax Manager (Life Insurance)
A leading financial services organisation in Jakarta is seeking an experienced Tax Manager specialising in life insurance to join as Senior Manager. Reporting to the Head of Tax, you will play a key role in implementing IFRS 17 tax regulations and strengthening tax compliance for life insurance products. As a Tax Manager Life Insurance based in Jakarta, you will be responsible for driving the successful implementation of IFRS 17 tax regulations across all relevant business units. Your day-to-day activities will involve close collaboration with accounting teams to bridge the gap between accounting standards and tax requirements. You will play an integral role in developing robust strategies that align with OJK guidelines while supporting senior management through insightful reporting and analysis. By coordinating efforts across finance, actuarial, legal, and other departments, you will ensure that all aspects of tax compliance are seamlessly integrated into organisational processes. Your commitment to knowledge sharing will be evident as you conduct training sessions for colleagues, helping them understand complex regulatory changes. - Collaborate with accounting teams to interpret and implement IFRS 17 tax regulations specific to life insurance products, ensuring compliance with OJK guidelines.
- Lead the development and execution of tax strategies related to IFRS 17, providing expert guidance on regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Support the Head of Tax by preparing detailed reports, analyses, and recommendations for senior management regarding tax implications under IFRS 17.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders across finance, actuarial, and legal departments to facilitate seamless integration of tax processes within the organisation.
- Monitor changes in local and international tax laws affecting life insurance, proactively updating policies and procedures to maintain compliance.
- Conduct training sessions for colleagues on IFRS 17 tax matters, promoting knowledge sharing and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Review and validate tax calculations, filings, and documentation to ensure accuracy and adherence to regulatory standards.
- Participate in audits and liaise with external consultants or regulators as required, representing the organisation’s interests professionally.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within the tax function, recommending solutions that enhance efficiency while maintaining compliance.
- Provide mentorship and support to junior team members, nurturing their professional growth within the tax department.
What you bring:
- Minimum of 7-8 years’ experience in tax management within the insurance industry, ideally with exposure to life insurance products.
- In-depth understanding of IFRS 17 regulations as they pertain to both accounting and taxation in Indonesia’s financial sector.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including finance, actuarial, legal, and senior management.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex regulatory requirements and translating them into actionable strategies.
- Excellent communication abilities for delivering clear guidance on technical matters to both specialists and non-specialists alike.
- Experience preparing comprehensive reports for senior leadership on tax issues related to IFRS 17 implementation.
- Demonstrated commitment to knowledge sharing through training sessions or mentoring colleagues within the organisation.
- Familiarity with OJK guidelines governing insurance taxation in Indonesia is highly desirable.
- Attention to detail when reviewing calculations, filings, or documentation for accuracy and compliance purposes.
- Adaptability in responding to evolving regulatory environments while maintaining high standards of professionalism.
