Chief Accountant

Save job

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Chief Accountant to join a prestigious international organisation in Jakarta. This role offers you the chance to take ownership of the finance and accounting functions, working within a supportive and knowledgeable team environment that values your expertise and commitment.

What you'll do:

As Chief Accountant, you will be entrusted with leading the finance function in Jakarta, taking responsibility for everything from daily transaction oversight through to high-level strategic planning. Your day-to-day activities will involve managing core accounting operations such as billing, payables, receivables, and ensuring all transactions are processed accurately. You will also oversee banking relationships, handle statutory audit requirements, coordinate annual budgeting efforts, forecast cash flows for future planning needs, review financial data for reporting purposes, and work closely with HR on payroll matters. In addition to these technical responsibilities, you will provide guidance to your team members while supporting wider office initiatives as directed by senior leaders. Success in this role will require not only technical proficiency but also excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

  • Lead and manage all aspects of the office’s finance and accounting functions, including billing processes, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other essential financial transactions.
  • Oversee banking relationships by maintaining strong connections with financial institutions and ensuring all banking matters are handled efficiently alongside proper filing requirements.
  • Liaise effectively with tax authorities, auditors, and tax agents to guarantee full compliance with statutory year-end audits, statutory reporting obligations, and timely tax filings.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely completion of both financial and management reporting tasks, including month-end closing activities that underpin business decision-making.
  • Coordinate the preparation of annual budgets by collaborating closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure robust financial planning for the year ahead.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting processes to support strategic financial planning and maintain organisational stability.
  • Review comprehensive financial data regularly and prepare detailed monthly as well as annual financial reports for internal use and external compliance.
  • Collaborate with the local HR team as well as external service providers to ensure smooth payroll processing and address related matters promptly.
  • Provide clear leadership and direction to the local finance team by fostering a collaborative atmosphere that supports individual growth and collective success.
  • Support additional tasks or initiatives as assigned by senior management, contributing positively to broader office objectives.

What you bring:

To excel as Chief Accountant in this international setting, you will bring proven experience managing complex finance operations within multinational environments—ideally including time spent in legal services. Your academic background in accounting or finance underpins your technical expertise while your hands-on experience equips you to handle everything from statutory audits through payroll administration. Your interpersonal strengths enable you to build trust across teams; your fluency in English ensures seamless communication; your understanding of payroll systems means you can address sensitive matters with care; your professionalism sets the tone for those around you; your flexibility helps navigate shifting demands; and your ability to work autonomously means you consistently deliver results even under pressure. These qualities together make you an invaluable asset ready to contribute meaningfully from day one.

  • A Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance is required to demonstrate your foundational knowledge of core principles essential for this role.
  • At least three years of relevant experience at a similar level within multinational companies is necessary; prior exposure within legal services would be considered an advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities are crucial for building positive relationships both within your immediate team and across other departments.
  • Business-level English language skills are mandatory so you can communicate effectively with colleagues locally and internationally.
  • Prior knowledge of payroll systems as well as individual income taxes is highly desirable for handling related responsibilities confidently.
  • A professional attitude combined with a proactive approach ensures you can anticipate challenges before they arise and respond constructively when needed.
  • Being a dependable team player who brings flexibility allows you to adapt quickly to changing priorities while supporting others’ success.
  • The ability to work independently is important so you can manage multiple tasks efficiently without constant supervision.

What sets this company apart:

This organisation stands out for its unwavering commitment to nurturing talent within an inclusive workplace culture that prioritises collaboration over competition. Employees benefit from access to ongoing training opportunities designed to enhance both technical skills and personal development. Flexible working arrangements are available wherever possible so that staff can balance their professional ambitions with personal commitments. The company’s reputation for integrity extends beyond its client base into how it treats its people: respect, empathy, open communication channels, and genuine support are hallmarks of daily life here. By joining this team in Jakarta, you become part of a global network where knowledge sharing is encouraged—and where every individual’s contribution is valued regardless of background or tenure. This is an environment where loyalty is reciprocated with real investment in your future growth.
