What you'll do:
As Head of Tax based in Jakarta or Bandung, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of Indonesian taxation for the organisation’s group entities. Your day-to-day activities will involve leading responses to audits by local authorities, handling objections or appeals through detailed documentation preparation alongside external advisors. You’ll act as the central point for information requests during audits—negotiating outcomes while engaging stakeholders at every level. You’ll also coordinate mutual agreement procedures (MAP) relating to cross-border transactions with regional teams. Staying ahead of regulatory changes is crucial; you’ll monitor international developments that affect business operations. Compliance is at the heart of this role: you’ll oversee preparation/review/filing of all statutory returns (corporate income/VAT/withholding), ensure accurate reporting/provisions/calculations on balance sheets—and coordinate monthly/year-end closings. Transfer pricing forms another key responsibility: you’ll prepare local files/supporting analyses/documentation aligned with global policies. Advisory support extends across finance/supply chain/procurement/treasury/commercial/manufacturing—assessing implications for new initiatives or restructurings. Risk management is continuous: monitoring risks/implementing remediation plans/documenting positions/readiness for audits/supporting controls/policies/governance frameworks—all form part of your remit.
- Lead and coordinate responses to tax audits conducted by Indonesian tax authorities, ensuring timely and accurate communication throughout the process.
- Manage objections, appeals, and litigation processes related to tax disputes in collaboration with external advisors, preparing comprehensive documentation and technical analyses.
- Act as the key coordinator for information requests from tax authorities and negotiate audit outcomes effectively while maintaining robust stakeholder engagement.
- Support and coordinate mutual agreement procedure submissions and other dispute resolution initiatives involving cross-border transactions, working closely with external advisors and regional teams.
- Monitor developments in international tax regulations to assess their impact on business operations and ensure proactive compliance strategies are implemented.
- Oversee all direct and indirect tax compliance obligations for Indonesian entities, including preparation, review, and filing of corporate income tax returns, VAT returns, withholding tax filings, and other statutory submissions.
- Ensure accurate reporting of tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, and balance sheet accounts related to taxation while coordinating monthly and year-end closing activities.
- Manage annual transfer pricing compliance requirements by preparing local files and supporting analyses; maintain documentation for Indonesian entities in line with global policies.
- Provide practical advisory support to finance, supply chain, procurement, treasury, commercial, and manufacturing teams regarding new business initiatives or restructurings.
- Monitor tax risks continuously by implementing remediation plans; maintain thorough documentation supporting company positions; ensure readiness for internal/external audits; support implementation of controls/policies/governance frameworks.

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance or a related discipline is required; a professional tax qualification is highly preferred for this position.
- You bring 8-12 years of progressive experience in taxation gained within multinational corporations or Big Four firms—or a combination thereof—with strong exposure to Indonesian corporate income tax, VAT and withholding taxes.
- Your proven track record includes managing complex audits/defence/objections/disputes with Indonesian authorities alongside external advisors.
- Solid knowledge of transfer pricing requirements—including local file documentation—and experience supporting global/regional policy implementation are essential.
- Experience working directly with Indonesian authorities/external advisors is vital; exposure to manufacturing/supply chain/cross-border business models is advantageous.
- A deep understanding of Indonesian legislation/practice—including transfer pricing/international matters—is expected; strong analytical/problem-solving capabilities are required.
