CFO
A leading plantation company is seeking a hands-on Head of Finance & Tax to build and lead its finance function from the ground up. Reporting to the CEO and COO, you will oversee finance, accounting, treasury, and tax, drive ERP/system implementation, develop scalable processes, lead a team of 60 through 4 direct reports, and partner with operations to support business growth, performance, and tax planning.
What you'll do:
As Head of Finance and Tax, you will play a central role in shaping the financial landscape of this thriving agribusiness. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve leading a large team of professionals across finance, accounting, tax, treasury, and administration. You will be instrumental in designing policies that ensure strong governance while driving operational improvements alongside plantation teams. By overseeing budgeting cycles and financial planning activities you will help steer the company towards sustainable growth. Your expertise in Indonesian taxation will be crucial as you manage compliance requirements and optimise tax strategies. Additionally, you will spearhead digital transformation projects such as ERP implementations—building scalable systems that enhance reporting capabilities. Success in this role requires nurturing talent within your team through supportive leadership while partnering closely with senior executives to present financial performance insights that inform strategic decisions.
* Lead the overall finance, accounting, treasury, tax, and financial reporting functions for the entire organisation, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all deliverables.
* Develop and establish comprehensive finance policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), internal controls, and governance frameworks that underpin sustainable business growth.
* Build and strengthen the finance organisation by recruiting, developing, and retaining talented professionals who contribute to a high-performance culture.
* Oversee budgeting processes, forecasting activities, cash flow management, and financial planning initiatives that align with strategic objectives.
* Deliver timely and accurate financial reporting to senior leadership including the CEO and COO, providing actionable insights for decision-making.
* Partner with operations teams to improve profitability, productivity, and cost efficiency across all plantation activities through collaborative analysis.
* Develop and execute tax planning strategies while ensuring full compliance with Indonesian tax regulations; identify optimisation opportunities and manage risks effectively.
* Oversee all corporate tax matters including audits, transfer pricing arrangements, VAT administration, and corporate income tax filings.
* Lead ERP system implementation projects as well as automation initiatives for finance and tax processes; design scalable reporting dashboards for management information systems.
* Mentor direct reports and develop future finance leaders within the business by fostering an accountable and collaborative team environment.
What you bring:
To excel as Head of Finance and Tax you will bring extensive experience gained from progressively responsible roles within finance or accounting—ideally spanning asset-intensive sectors such as plantations or manufacturing. Your academic background should include a relevant degree complemented by professional certifications that demonstrate your commitment to excellence. You possess advanced technical skills in financial planning & analysis along with practical knowledge of Indonesian regulatory requirements governing taxation. Your history of successfully building teams from the ground up showcases your ability to nurture talent through supportive leadership. Experience implementing ERP systems highlights your adaptability in digital transformation settings while your proficiency in treasury management ensures sound cash flow practices. Above all your interpersonal strengths enable you to collaborate effectively across departments—driving operational improvements through shared goals. * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field is required; professional qualifications such as CA, CPA, ACCA or CMA are highly preferred.
* Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting or tax roles with significant leadership responsibility managing large teams.
* Prior exposure to plantation, agriculture, FMCG manufacturing or other asset-intensive industries is advantageous for understanding operational complexities.
* Strong expertise in financial planning & analysis coupled with deep knowledge of financial reporting standards relevant to Indonesian businesses.
* Demonstrated ability to develop effective tax planning strategies while ensuring compliance with local regulations; experience managing audits is essential.
* Proven track record of building finance functions from scratch including process design and team development within fast-growing environments.
* Experience leading ERP or finance system implementation projects as well as driving automation initiatives for improved efficiency.
* Comprehensive understanding of treasury management practices including cash flow forecasting and risk mitigation techniques.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to foster collaboration among cross-functional teams; stakeholder management is key.
