What you'll do:

As an Engineering Manager based in Jakarta, you will play a central role in guiding a talented group of engineers towards achieving ambitious goals. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve mentoring team members through regular feedback sessions while fostering an inclusive environment where collaboration thrives.   • Plan and oversee the delivery of engineering projects by monitoring progress, identifying potential issues or risks early on, and ensuring timely completion with high quality standards.
  • Provide technical expertise by creating RFC documents and offering guidance on complex technical decisions to help the team navigate challenges effectively.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, emerging technologies, and facilitate communication within the engineering team as well as across other departments.
  • Continuously improve engineering processes by implementing best practices for software development including coding standards, code reviews, testing protocols, and adopting new tools or technologies to streamline operations.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments such as product management, design, DevOps, participating in cross-functional initiatives to ensure alignment on strategic objectives.
  • Set clear performance goals for the engineering team while recognising achievements and addressing any performance issues or conflicts constructively.

  • At least nine years of experience as a software engineer or lead solving real-world customer problems in complex environments.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience as a people manager responsible for developing high-performing engineering teams through mentorship and support.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher), preferably in Computer Science or related field demonstrating strong academic foundations.
  • Deep understanding of object-oriented programming principles along with concurrency concepts fundamental to computer science applications.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities with expertise in data structures and algorithms relevant to building robust systems.
  • A passion for building services that are reliable, scalable, performant—and pride in continuous improvement of your work each day.
  • Excellent technical skills combined with critical thinking abilities; capable of communicating vision clearly at all levels including top management.
  • Experience contributing meaningfully during architectural discussions or decisions within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Hands-on experience with Java (including XML/JSON/Junit), Scala/Kotlin languages; RESTful APIs; GraphQL; Microservices architectures; Apache Tomcat; Spring MVC/Spring Boot frameworks; Docker containerisation; AWS cloud services (EC2/S3/RDS); Kubernetes orchestration; Redis caching solutions.
  • Familiarity with monitoring/alerting tools such as New Relic or PagerDuty plus comfort working in flat/agile/distributed environments where adaptability is key.
