Trade Marketing Manager (Lubricants)
This pivotal role offers you the opportunity to shape and execute trade marketing strategies that directly impact product visibility, distribution, and sales across diverse retail channels. You will bridge the gap between marketing and sales by designing impactful programmes that drive volume growth, channel engagement, and market share improvement.
What you'll do:
As Trade Marketing Manager you will play a crucial role in shaping how products are positioned within the marketplace by developing robust strategies that align with overarching business goals. Your day-to-day activities will involve collaborating with internal teams across Sales, Finance, Supply Chain as well as external distributors to ensure seamless execution of trade programmes. You will be responsible for designing engaging loyalty schemes via digital platforms—monitoring their effectiveness through data analysis—and optimising them regularly based on participant behaviour. Your expertise will be key in creating compelling promotional mechanics tailored for different retail environments while ensuring all activities remain cost-efficient under a centralised budget framework.
- Develop an annual trade marketing strategy and calendar that aligns with brand objectives, sales targets, and overall marketing direction for all retail channels.
- Define channel segmentation and tailor trade programmes for independent workshops, branded workshops, chain workshops, wholesale partners, and other relevant segments.
- Lead the transition from distributor-managed to principal-managed trade budgets by establishing clear processes for fund allocation, claim validation, and ROI tracking.
- Identify growth opportunities using shopper insights, competitive benchmarking, and detailed channel performance analytics to inform programme design.
- Collaborate closely with Marketing and Sales teams to ensure all trade initiatives support both sell-in and sell-out objectives while maintaining brand equity.
- Design national and regional trade programmes—including loyalty schemes—by creating promotional mechanics such as bundling offers, rebates, contests, and trade deals suited for each channel type.
- Manage the digital app-based Loyalty Programme by overseeing point systems, tiering structures, redemption offers, engagement campaigns, system readiness, communication plans, participation monitoring, and ongoing optimisation.
- Develop point-of-sale materials, comprehensive trade toolkits, and consistent in-store branding solutions to maximise product visibility at every touchpoint.
- Coordinate with distributors and field sales teams for seamless programme rollout while supervising execution quality to ensure strict adherence to brand guidelines.
- Oversee centralised budget management by implementing efficient allocation methods based on sales volume; track spend versus performance monthly using financial dashboards; manage claims processes; evaluate ROI; prepare regular performance reports; conduct post-activity evaluations; provide actionable insights for continuous improvement.
What you bring:
Your proven background in trade or channel marketing equips you with the practical knowledge needed to excel as Trade Marketing Manager. You bring hands-on experience managing multi-channel campaigns within fast-moving consumer goods environments—ideally lubricants or automotive—where understanding complex distribution networks is second nature. Your analytical acumen enables you to interpret large volumes of data effectively so that every initiative is grounded in measurable outcomes. You are comfortable presenting ideas persuasively whether internally or externally—and your fluency in English/Bahasa Indonesia allows you to connect authentically with stakeholders throughout the region.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration or related field is required for this position.
- At least five years’ experience in trade marketing or channel marketing roles—preferably within FMCG sectors such as lubricants or automotive industries—is essential.
- Deep understanding of B2B2C channel dynamics including workshops (independent/branded/chain), retail outlets and wholesalers is highly valued.
- Demonstrated ability to design effective trade programmes that deliver measurable sales results through collaborative teamwork is necessary.
- Advanced analytical skills with proficiency in interpreting data sets for ROI measurement are expected from successful candidates.
- Excellent project management capabilities combined with negotiation skills enable you to coordinate complex multi-channel initiatives efficiently.
- Strong presentation abilities allow you to communicate programme value clearly across internal teams as well as external partners.
- Proactive mindset paired with strategic thinking ensures you can anticipate challenges while maintaining disciplined execution standards throughout projects.
- Familiarity with CRM systems (including loyalty platforms) plus experience using retail visibility tracking tools would be advantageous but not mandatory.
- Fluency in both English and Bahasa Indonesia (written/spoken) is required given the regional scope of responsibilities.
