Project Fleet & Assets Manager
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Fleet and Assets Manager to join a major construction project. (Role based in Jakarta with occasional travel to West Papua.)
This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation of a diverse fleet and the efficient management of consumables that support a multi-billion-dollar infrastructure initiative. The successful candidate will play a crucial part in maintaining operational excellence, upholding international safety standards, and supporting the delivery of one of Indonesia’s most significant projects. With a contract running through 2029 and the potential for permanent placement, this position offers stability, professional growth, and the chance to make a lasting impact on large-scale operations. Flexible working arrangements and exposure to high-profile engineering environments make this an outstanding career move for those passionate about asset management and logistics.
What you'll do:
As Project Fleet and Assets Manager, you will be entrusted with end-to-end responsibility for both the physical assets that drive project success and the consumables that sustain daily operations. Your day-to-day activities will involve strategic oversight of equipment fleets—ensuring every vehicle or machine is ready when needed—and meticulous planning around maintenance routines to prevent costly delays. You will also manage vital supply chains for items like fuel and PPE, keeping inventories balanced so work never stops due to shortages. Working alongside trusted vendors and internal teams alike, your ability to uphold strict certification standards will be key in meeting regulatory demands. By providing clear reporting on asset use and costs while adapting quickly to logistical challenges in remote areas, you will help shape the smooth delivery of this ambitious infrastructure programme.
- Oversee the operational readiness and availability of a comprehensive fleet including flatbed trailers, low-bed trailers, heavy crawler cranes, forklifts, telehandlers, and other essential equipment required for project execution.
- Develop, implement, and monitor rigorous preventative maintenance schedules for all on-site machinery to ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage procurement processes and maintain accurate inventory levels for high-turn consumables such as fuel, lubricants, personal protective equipment (PPE), and workshop spare parts to guarantee uninterrupted site operations.
- Coordinate with third-party maintenance vendors and spare part suppliers, ensuring all services meet stringent international Oil & Gas safety standards and deliver value for money.
- Ensure all physical assets are fully certified according to MIGAS/DEPNAKER regulations and comply with BP/JGC safety requirements specific to Brownfield operations.
- Maintain precise records of asset registers and warehouse stock using advanced Asset Management Systems to achieve 100% inventory accuracy at all times.
- Prepare detailed weekly reports covering asset utilisation rates, maintenance expenditure versus budget forecasts, and consumable usage trends for senior management review.
- Support remote site logistics by navigating complex supply chains and addressing challenges unique to operating in geographically isolated regions of Indonesia.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, procurement, health & safety, and site operations to align asset strategies with overall project goals.
What you bring:
To excel as Project Fleet and Assets Manager you will bring extensive hands-on experience gained from overseeing complex logistics or facilities functions within high-value projects. Your technical expertise will allow you to confidently manage sophisticated asset tracking systems while applying sound judgement during maintenance planning. A solid educational foundation paired with sector-specific knowledge ensures you can navigate industry regulations effortlessly. Your collaborative nature fosters positive relationships with both external partners and internal colleagues—crucial when coordinating across diverse teams. Adaptability is second nature; whether responding swiftly to supply chain issues or ensuring compliance amid evolving safety requirements. Above all else your commitment to accuracy guarantees that every asset is accounted for—making you an indispensable member of any major project delivery team.
- A minimum of eight years’ proven experience in project logistics, fleet management or site facilities roles within large-scale industrial settings.
- Direct background in sectors such as mining, marine operations, energy production or engineering procurement construction (EPC) projects is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated involvement in supporting mega projects—particularly those related to Oil & Gas or major infrastructure—in remote Indonesian locations.
- Advanced proficiency with Asset Management software platforms as well as strong command of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting purposes.
- Comprehensive understanding of mechanical maintenance principles relevant to heavy equipment fleets used in demanding environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Logistics or another closely related discipline from an accredited institution is required.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills enabling effective collaboration with local vendors as well as internal stakeholders across multiple departments.
- A practical approach to problem-solving combined with adaptability when facing unexpected logistical hurdles or supply chain disruptions.
- Meticulous attention to detail when managing certifications, compliance documentation and inventory records under tight deadlines.
