A leading international chemical distributor is seeking a high-calibre QHSE Manager (Chemical) in Indonesia. In this job, you will support a large, complex business unit with a regional remit.
About the QHSE Manager (Chemical) Role: Due to excellent results and global expansion, the QHSE Manager will play a key role in supporting the Managing Director by collaborating with corporate and regional QSHE to communicate and ensure corporate QSHE strategy, guidelines and processes are understood and implemented on all sites and providing sound SHE management advice.
Key Responsibilities:
Creating and implementing company-wide QHSE policies and procedures that align with local regulations and international standards. These policies cover quality assurance, health and safety protocols, and environmental sustainability
Ensuring that the organisation complies with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to quality, health, safety, and environmental practices
Identifying potential hazards and risks in the workplace, assessing their potential impacts, and implementing measures to mitigate or eliminate them
Providing training and educational programmes to employees at all levels to increase awareness about QHSE practices and promote a culture of safety and responsibility
Conducting regular audits and inspections of the workplace to identify areas of non-compliance or potential improvement opportunities. This includes assessing equipment, processes, and employee practices
Leading investigations into accidents, incidents, or near-misses to determine root causes and develop strategies to prevent similar incidents in the future
Working to continually enhance QHSE processes and practices, using data-driven approaches to identify trends and areas for improvement
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records related to QHSE activities, including incident reports, training records, and compliance documentation
Developing and implementing emergency response plans, ensuring that employees know how to respond effectively to emergencies, and conducting drills to test these plans
Communicating with various stakeholders, including employees, management, regulatory bodies, and the public, regarding QHSE matters
Implementing strategies to minimise the organisation's environmental impact, such as waste reduction, energy conservation, and sustainable resource management
Preparing regular reports for senior management and relevant authorities to provide updates on QHSE performance, incidents, compliance, and improvement initiatives
Managing budgets and resources allocated to QHSE programmes, ensuring that funds are used effectively to promote safety and quality
Being the liaison for external interfaces e.g. with government agencies, to ensure licenses, permits, certificates and statutory examinations are maintained and renewed in a timely manner e.g., Emergency Response Plan, Transport, Emergency Response Plan, Hazardous Chemicals, Pressurised Vessels, etc.
Being familiar with the requirements of risk management and conduct risk assessment and maintain the risk management including Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) for the company
Conducting root cause analysis incident investigation with ALARP recommendations in a formal written report
Implementing relevant international standards, codes and best practices e.g. API, ASME, IEC, GHS, IMDG, NFPA for all sites
To succeed in this role, you must have the ability to articulate strategy to operational teams you will take the lead in QHSE implementation in Indonesia.
Key Requirements:
Bachelor's degree with at least eight years of work experience in QSHE
Minimum of three years of leadership/management experience
Experience in process safety management, gas storage and handling, flammable and toxic chemicals
Experience in behavioural based safety, fire prevention and mitigation, food safety, hazardous and toxic materials and safe warehouse management
Working experience in the oil/gas/chemicals industry is an advantage
Working experience in distribution and/or logistics is an advantage
Adaptable to changes and has passion for QSHE
Ability to inspire/influence and spearhead new initiatives and changes
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and a good team player as well
Good in planning, analytical, and presentation skills
Good people management and communication skills
Good command in spoken and written English
