A leading European shipping line company is seeking a customer-oriented and results-driven Senior National Operations Manager (Marine Services). In this job, you will work with regional and national colleagues and manage all aspects of marine operations across Indonesia.
About the Senior National Operations Manager (Marine Services) Role: Reporting to the country manager and managing a large number of team across Indonesia, you are responsible for the whole marine operations across Indonesia and leading your team members to comply with the customers' KPIs. This requires operational knowledge of various vessel and commodity types, hand on approach to the details of daily operations, vendor management practices, building relationships at all levels of the operations teams, driving and coordinating the operational team to deliver services as per the best practices already established by the group.
Key Responsibilities:
Be account for the operational management of the Marine Agency operations department
Nurture a strong working relationship with the department managers, colleagues and subordinates, both in head office, branch offices and regional offices
Assume the role of key contact for VIP principals that will require special operational attention, review meetings/relationship building
Actively develop client relationships at a senior level with operational heads (owners/traders/shippers/consignees)
Provide leadership, guidance and support to the team; training and motivating staff; developing appropriate succession plans, managing operational staff requirements
Ensure operational risk is managed and contractual issues are looked after in the company’s best interests
Review and manage the allocation of staff resources across the department and branch network to ensure operations are managed, and efficiencies are maximised
Review SOPs for coordination between related departments
Monitor all regulatory requirements related to the sector, IE immigration law, permitting requirements, cabotage regulations, customs importation of vessels and equipment. Compile and report the required information internally and to principals
Be responsible for credit control for principals, regular review meetings with accounts department to review and follow up outstanding SOA with principals
Be the focal point for the implementation of Marine Agency HSEQ as its developed and rolled out
You must have an ability to engage with the local team to gain trust/respect/working relationships, have an IT capability, administrative competence, finance team coordination, as well as be willing to be fully committed and responsible for the departments activity and results.
Key Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in any major
10 years' experience in the marine shipping line industry
Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills
Experience with managing operations within a marine agency, vessel owner/operator environment
Experience with looking after “key” accounts
Ability and track record of growing business and delivering results
Strong man manager, good at building relationships, flexible, can manage performance and set targets in an achievable manner
Willing and able to “get involved” in daily activities
