Kompas TV: IT professionals will be in high-demand in 2018
Kompas TV, one of Indonesia’s leading national news broadcaster, covered the stories on the recently launched Robert Walters 2018 Salary Survey – Greater China and Southeast Asia in Indonesia.
It was reported by Kompas TV that as the result of the digitalisation trend, many companies in Indonesia are looking to hire professionals with expertise in the information technology (IT) sector. In her presentation to the Indonesia’s journalists, Karina Saridewi, Manager of Commerce Finance Division of Robert Walters Indonesia, said that there will be strong hiring activity in 2018, especially for IT professionals due to the growing number of e-commerce businesses and fintech start-ups. An average good candidate in the IT sector can expect a salary increment of 20-40% in 2018. This is mostly factored by the heightened imbalance between short supply and high demand for IT talent in Indonesia.
The 2018 Salary Survey also reveals that the demand for well-rounded, tech-savy local candidates with international experience, fluent in both Bahasa Indonesia and English is set to continue in 2018.
