Head of Corporate Communication (Agriculture & Plantation)
A leading organisation in the plantation sector is seeking a highly experienced Head of Corporate Communications to join their Jakarta head office. What you'll do:
As Head of Corporate Communications based in Jakarta, your role will be central to shaping how the organisation is perceived by both internal stakeholders and the wider public. You will be responsible for designing robust communication frameworks that align with executive vision while ensuring consistency across all operational regions. Your day-to-day activities will involve collaborating with senior leaders on reputational issues; overseeing the production of key publications; managing digital channels; engaging proactively with media representatives; supporting CSR initiatives; leading crisis response efforts; orchestrating impactful events; monitoring budgets; and nurturing a high-performing team. Success in this role requires you to balance strategic oversight with hands-on delivery—ensuring every message supports organisational goals while building trust among employees, partners, regulators, communities, and investors.
- Develop and execute an integrated corporate communication strategy aligned with group policies and executive direction to ensure effective messaging across all business units.
- Oversee the creation, coordination, and management of internal and external communication materials including annual reports, sustainability reports, newsletters, regulated disclosures, and other corporate publications.
- Manage digital platforms such as the corporate website and social media channels to maintain a consistent online presence that reflects organisational values.
- Provide expert advisory support to senior leaders on reputational matters while ensuring compliance with branding standards and identity guidelines.
- Cultivate strong relationships with local and international media organisations by preparing press releases, statements, briefings, and handling enquiries from diverse stakeholders including NGOs, shareholders, and government authorities.
- Strategise, monitor, and evaluate CSR programmes as well as sponsorship initiatives to enhance corporate image within operational communities.
- Lead crisis communication planning by developing protocols in collaboration with Legal and Risk Management teams; prepare executive materials during sensitive situations.
- Oversee the planning and execution of corporate events as well as stakeholder engagement programmes that foster positive community relations.
- Manage the annual budget for Corporate Communications ensuring cost efficiency while maintaining compliance with procurement processes.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Corporate Communications team while managing external vendors, agencies, and partners to deliver high-quality outcomes.
What you bring:
To excel as Head of Corporate Communications you will bring extensive experience from senior roles where you have managed complex reputational risks across diverse stakeholder groups. Your background should include significant exposure to regulated industries—ideally plantations or similar sectors—where you have overseen multi-channel communications strategies. Your interpersonal skills will enable you to build trust-based relationships internally (with C-suite executives) as well as externally (with media organisations or government bodies). You are adept at navigating sensitive issues calmly under pressure while providing clear guidance during crises. Your ability to manage budgets efficiently ensures resources are optimised for maximum impact. A collaborative approach combined with emotional intelligence allows you to nurture talent within your team whilst fostering interdepartmental cooperation. Above all else your commitment to ethical practice ensures every message upholds organisational integrity.
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Law or Social Sciences is required; a Master’s degree is considered an advantage for this position.
- At least fifteen years’ proven experience in corporate communications or related fields such as public affairs or external relations within large organisations or regulated sectors.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both Bahasa Indonesia and English are essential for effective stakeholder engagement at all levels.
- Demonstrated expertise in strategic communication planning including crisis management protocols under ambiguous or high-pressure circumstances.
- Extensive experience managing media relations—including preparing press releases, statements for executives, handling enquiries from journalists or NGOs—and building positive relationships with government authorities.
- Proficiency in digital communications including website management, social media literacy as well as creative content production oversight is highly desirable.
- Solid understanding of branding principles with experience ensuring compliance with identity standards across multiple platforms.
- Track record of successfully strategising CSR programmes or sponsorships that enhance business visibility within operational communities is preferred.
- Strong leadership capabilities demonstrated through mentoring teams towards high performance while managing external vendors or agency partners effectively.
- Knowledge of plantation industry culture or stakeholder ecosystem would be advantageous but not mandatory.
