What you'll do:
As Senior Legal Manager, you will play an integral role in safeguarding the organisation’s interests while supporting its continued growth in Bali’s thriving hospitality market. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve providing expert guidance on complex legal matters, permits and licences, government relations and stakeholder management, drafting critical documents, managing risk exposure, and ensuring that all business activities adhere to current laws. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to foster understanding of legal requirements throughout the company. By building strong relationships internally and externally, you will help create a culture of compliance that supports sustainable business success. Your ability to communicate clearly and empathetically will be essential as you guide colleagues through challenging situations with sensitivity and professionalism.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents and commercial contracts, including agreements with vendors, partners, and clients.
- Provide sound legal counsel and guidance to various departments on business operations, corporate governance, and compliance matters.
- Manage the application, renewal, and reporting of all business licenses via OSS RBA and relevant government agencies (NIB, Land Use, Environmental Permits, etc.).
- Monitor changes in laws/regulations and ensure all business operations remain fully compliant with the latest legal frameworks.
- Manage legal and regulatory risks, and develop internal policies and procedures to ensure adherence to all legal requirements.
- Assist in corporate legal matters, including corporate secretarial duties and licensing.
- Stakeholder management and government relations.
What you bring:
Your background as a Senior Legal Manager will include substantial experience advising on commercial law within the hospitality sector or similar industries. You will have developed excellent analytical skills alongside an empathetic approach that enables you to build trust across multidisciplinary teams. Your proven ability to manage complex projects under tight deadlines will set you apart as someone who can be relied upon during periods of change or uncertainty. A passion for sharing knowledge through training initiatives is highly valued here; your willingness to nurture others’ understanding of legal principles will contribute significantly to the company’s culture of continuous improvement. Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia is essential; Balinese and Korean language skills would be advantageous.
- Bachelor's degree in Law from a reputable university.
- 7 years of experience in a law firm or as in-house legal counsel.
- Solid knowledge of corporate law, licensing, commercial law, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven experience in drafting and negotiating contracts.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Managing government relations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Already based in Bali, speaking Balinese is a plus.
