What you'll do:

As Senior Legal Counsel, you will be entrusted with overseeing all facets of corporate legal affairs for the organisation’s head office operations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve providing expert guidance on regulatory compliance, drafting critical commercial contracts, managing governance documentation for board meetings, and supporting strategic projects such as land acquisition licensing. You will work hand-in-hand with senior management—including direct interaction with owners—to ensure that all business activities are underpinned by sound legal frameworks. By nurturing your team’s development and collaborating across departments like Finance, Procurement, HR, and Operations, you will help drive operational excellence while safeguarding the company’s interests. Your ability to anticipate risks, manage external counsel relationships effectively, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving regulations will be key to your success in this influential role.

• Provide comprehensive legal advice to management on corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters impacting the organisation’s strategic direction.
• Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of complex commercial agreements to support business initiatives while balancing risk and practicality.
• Oversee all aspects of contract lifecycle management, including developing standard templates and clauses to ensure consistency and compliance.
• Manage corporate governance processes by preparing board and shareholder documentation and ensuring adherence to internal policies and external regulations.
• Ensure full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal standards across all areas of operation.
• Identify potential legal risks related to contractual obligations and implement effective mitigation strategies.
• Partner closely with other business units such as Finance, Procurement, HR, and Operations to deliver integrated legal solutions that support organisational objectives.
• Coordinate and manage relationships with external legal counsel and advisors for specialised matters or litigation support.
• Support business growth by providing practical guidance on land acquisition licensing and intellectual property issues relevant to the FMCG or retail sectors.
• Mentor, guide, and develop a team of more than ten legal professionals to foster a collaborative and high-performing department.

• Bachelor’s degree in Law or related field from a reputable institution is required for this position.
• Licensed to practice law in Indonesia with registration at the relevant bar association is essential for this role.
• At least 15 years of progressive experience in corporate legal environments—preferably within FMCG or retail sectors—is necessary for success.
• Demonstrated expertise in land acquisition licensing processes as well as intellectual property matters is crucial for this position.
• Proven track record advising senior management teams or business owners on complex regulatory issues is highly valued here.
• Extensive experience drafting, reviewing, negotiating commercial contracts across multiple jurisdictions is expected from candidates.
• Deep familiarity with corporate governance practices including preparation of board/shareholder documentation is important for this role.
• Experience managing litigation cases as well as coordinating external counsel/advisors adds value to your candidacy.
• Ability to lead large teams (more than ten people) while fostering an inclusive culture of collaboration is required here.
• Fluency in conversational Chinese language is mandatory
