A leading automotive manufacturer in Jakarta is seeking a Head of Government Relations to play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s public policy strategy and fostering meaningful connections with key government stakeholders. This is an exceptional opportunity for you to make a significant impact within a globally recognised organisation that values collaboration, inclusivity, and professional growth. You will be at the forefront of driving positive change in the automotive sector, ensuring that the business remains compliant, influential, and respected within regulatory circles. The organisation offers flexible working opportunities and a supportive environment where your expertise in government relations will be highly valued and nurtured.
Take on a senior leadership position with direct influence over public policy and regulatory affairs in the automotive manufacturing sector, based in Jakarta.
What you'll do:
As Head of Government Relations, you will serve as the primary liaison between the organisation and various governmental bodies in Jakarta. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve developing robust strategies for engaging with policymakers while keeping abreast of evolving regulations affecting the automotive manufacturing landscape. You will work collaboratively across departments to ensure that all public policy initiatives are well-coordinated and effectively communicated. Success in this role requires you to proactively identify risks or opportunities arising from legislative changes while representing the company’s interests at key industry events. Your ability to foster trust-based relationships with both internal colleagues and external partners will be essential as you guide the organisation through Indonesia’s dynamic regulatory environment.
- Develop and implement comprehensive government relations strategies that align with organisational objectives and support sustainable business growth within the automotive manufacturing industry.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with government officials, regulatory bodies, industry associations, and other key external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and advocacy.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments relevant to the automotive sector, providing timely analysis and recommendations to senior management regarding potential impacts or opportunities.
- Represent the organisation at high-level meetings, forums, and industry events to advocate for favourable policies and promote constructive dialogue between the company and governmental entities.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams including legal, compliance, communications, and operations to ensure alignment on public policy positions and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare detailed reports, briefing materials, presentations, and official correspondence for both internal use and submission to government agencies as required.
- Lead crisis management efforts related to government or regulatory issues by coordinating responses and maintaining open channels of communication with authorities.
- Advise executive leadership on emerging trends in public policy, offering strategic guidance on how best to navigate complex regulatory environments.
- Oversee the preparation of submissions for consultations or legislative reviews, ensuring all documentation is accurate, persuasive, and aligned with organisational interests.
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for Head of Government Relations brings substantial experience navigating complex governmental landscapes within Indonesia’s industrial sectors. Your background should include hands-on involvement in public affairs or regulatory roles where you have successfully influenced policy outcomes through relationship-building rather than confrontation. Your analytical mindset allows you to interpret new laws swiftly while considering their broader implications for business operations. Above all else, your dedication to ethical practice ensures that every interaction reflects positively on both yourself and your employer.
- Extensive experience in government relations or public affairs within a large-scale industrial or manufacturing environment, ideally focused on the automotive sector.
- Proven track record of building trusted relationships with government officials, regulators, industry associations, and other influential stakeholders (GAIKINDO)
- In-depth understanding of Indonesian legislative processes, regulatory frameworks relevant to automotive manufacturing, and current public policy trends.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach to problem-solving and consensus-building across diverse teams.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities in Bahasa Indonesia and English proficiency, enabling you to prepare compelling reports, presentations, and official correspondence.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse complex legislation or regulations quickly while providing clear recommendations for action.
- Experience representing organisations at high-profile meetings or industry forums with confidence and professionalism.
- Strong project management skills with attention to detail when preparing documentation for government submissions or consultations.
- A commitment to ethical conduct, transparency, inclusivity, and responsible business practices.
