Our client is seeking a highly knowledgeable and dependable Legal Counsel to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to specialise in regulatory and environmental law across multiple layers of government, providing crucial advice and counsel in various areas of business law. What you'll do:

As a Legal Counsel for our client's team, you will play an integral role in providing expert advice on a wide range of legal matters. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include researching and interpreting existing laws and regulations while also keeping abreast of proposed changes. You will be tasked with identifying potential legal risks and developing strategies to mitigate these. Additionally, you will be responsible for drafting and negotiating contracts and other legal documents. Your expertise will also be called upon to represent the organisation in any litigation or arbitration proceedings.

• Provide specialised advice on regulatory and environmental laws at multiple layers of government
• Counsel on various areas of business law including corporate law, tax, business litigation, transaction/anti-trust, compliance, intellectual property, employment/labor, corporate governance, ethics
• Research, analyse and interpret proposed and existing laws, statues & regulations
• Identify, evaluate and address issues of legal risk
• Structure, draft, negotiate and/or approve legal contracts, letters of agreement, policies and other documents related to trade, commercial, financial and operational matters
• Represent the organisation in litigation, arbitration or mediation with courts or other legal authorities

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this position brings a wealth of experience from the energy sector. With at least 10 years' experience as a Legal Counsel within the Energy Business/Energy Industry (especially Power or Renewable industry), you are well-versed in the unique challenges and opportunities this sector presents. Your ability to create defensive or proactive legal strategies will be crucial in this role, as will your experience in providing high-level reports to management. You are known for your integrity, honesty, ethical behaviour and trustworthiness. Your strong situational leadership skills and full comprehension of the influences of the external environment of a corporation, including new regulations, will set you apart.

• Bachelor's degree graduate in Law from a reputable university; Master Degree in Law is advantageous
• Possession of PERADI License/Certification
• Fluency in English (reading, writing and speaking)
• Knowledge and experience in global Renewable Energy Framework is beneficial
• Proven 10 years of experience in Energy Business/Energy Industry (especially in Power or Renewable industry)
• Demonstrated ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies
• Experience in providing high level reports to management
• Integrity through honesty, ethical behaviour and trustworthiness
• Strong situational leadership capability
• Full comprehension of the influences of the external environment of a corporation includes the new regulations
