Corporate Legal Counsel

A Corporate Legal Counsel job has become available at one of the global FMCG companies in Jakarta, currently looking for a legal professional to strengthen their business presence in Indonesia.

About the Corporate Legal Counsel Role:
You will manage all legal activities pertaining to the corporation, contracts management, and present legal documents and agreements to the stakeholders, as well as become the face of the company to the government, third parties and relevant institutions. This role reports to the Regional Senior Legal Counsel of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and ensure compliance of corporate secretarial works, including main investment licenses
• Provide local legal support the concentrate plant in Indonesia
• Provide proactive and creative strategic and tactical legal counselling and support, advice and assist in problem resolution on a timely basis. Work as part of cross-functional teams on projects and initiatives to achieve business result in the right way
• Proactively provide legal opinion as needed, conduct legal research and where necessary, work with outside counsel for advice on complex matters and local laws/regulations
• Draft, review, and negotiate key legal contracts to achieve business objectives, minimise risk and ensure compliance with company policies, laws, and regulations 
• Review and approve all marketing initiatives including all labels, claims, packaging, advertising, campaigns and promotional mechanics and terms and conditions, public affairs and consumer communications
• Provide litigation assessment counselling and risk mitigation advice
• Participate in all cross-functional projects on innovation, new product launches and development 
• Represent and/or guide the representation of Company interests in dealing with local governmental authorities 
• Ensure compliance with company policy and provide proper training and support in the areas of corporate governance, including but not limited to code of business conduct, anti-bribery compliance, supplier guiding principles, FCPA, trade sanctions, anti-trust, privacy policy and other policies
• Develop and support efficiency opportunities within the legal function to enhance the agility and effectiveness of the legal function
• Collaborate with the rest of the regional legal team on global initiatives  

To succeed in this Corporate Legal Counsel role, you must have a Leadership behaviour, growth mindset, strong commercial acumen and ready to have a regional experience with across jurisdiction.

Key Requirements:

• Qualified lawyer in Indonesia with overall 9 - 13 years' experience working in an international law firm (minimum of six to eight years)
• Strong business and commercial acumen
• Solid negotiations skills
• Ability to successfully work in cross-functional teams
• Highly persuasive and influential
• Ability to communicate effectively and explain complex legal issues in a simple way
• Ability to deal with multiple priorities, both at strategic and operational level
• Hardworking, driven, motivated and ability to take the initiative are key to perform in this role
• Results-driven, disciplined and excellent in multitasking, able to get things done
• Strong ethics and high personal integrity
