Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced External Affairs and Permitting Manager to join their dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to manage and oversee all aspects of the company's external communications, public relations, and permit acquisition processes. The successful candidate will have the chance to work closely with government agencies, local communities, and other stakeholders, ensuring smooth operations and compliance with all relevant regulations and permits.

What you'll do:

As an External Affairs and Permitting Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing the company's external communications, public relations, and permit acquisition processes. You will be responsible for developing strategies for external affairs, liaising with various stakeholders including government agencies and local communities, managing permit applications, renewals, and compliance. Your role will also involve coordinating with internal teams to ensure consistency in external communication. Monitoring changes in laws that may affect operations will be part of your remit as well as representing the company at public meetings. You will prepare reports for senior management on permit statuses while also managing crisis communication.

  • Develop and implement strategies for external affairs and permitting processes.
  • Liaise with government agencies, local communities, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
  • Manage the application, renewal, and compliance of all necessary permits and licenses.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies, local authorities, and community groups.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure all external communication aligns with the company's goals.
  • Monitor changes in laws that may affect the company's operations.
  • Represent the company in public meetings, hearings, and community events.
  • Prepare reports on the status of permits and external affairs for senior management.
  • Coordinate with legal team to address any legal issues related to permits.
  • Manage crisis communication and respond to public inquiries in a timely manner.


What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the External Affairs and Permitting Manager position brings excellent communication skills coupled with a deep understanding of permit application processes. Your ability to build strong relationships with various stakeholders will be crucial in this role. We are looking for someone who can solve problems effectively even under pressure. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required along with the ability to work both independently or as part of a team. Excellent organisational skills are essential for this role.
