As Head of Compliance, you will play an instrumental role in safeguarding the organisation’s reputation by embedding a culture of responsibility and ethical conduct. Your day-to-day activities will involve close collaboration with senior leaders as you design forward-thinking compliance strategies tailored to the unique needs of the insurance industry. You will be responsible for interpreting complex regulatory requirements into actionable policies that empower colleagues at every level. By coordinating audits, managing investigations sensitively, delivering impactful training programmes, and maintaining transparent communication channels with both internal teams and external regulators, you will ensure that high standards are consistently met. Your ability to anticipate risks before they arise will be crucial in supporting sustainable business growth while protecting stakeholder interests. This is an opportunity for you to use your expertise in compliance management not only as a safeguard but as a catalyst for positive change throughout the organisation.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance programmes that ensure all business activities adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies within the insurance sector.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and proactively update organisational policies and procedures to reflect new requirements, ensuring seamless integration into daily operations.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to senior management and staff on compliance matters, fostering a culture of ethical behaviour throughout the organisation.
  • Coordinate regular audits and risk assessments, identifying potential areas of vulnerability and recommending practical solutions for improvement.
  • Oversee investigations into compliance breaches or concerns, ensuring thorough documentation, fair resolution processes, and timely reporting to appropriate authorities.
  • Prepare detailed reports for executive leadership and regulatory bodies, clearly communicating findings, recommendations, and progress on compliance initiatives.
  • Design and deliver engaging training sessions for employees at all levels, raising awareness of compliance obligations and promoting best practices across departments.
  • Build strong relationships with external regulators, auditors, and other stakeholders to facilitate open communication and demonstrate the organisation’s commitment to transparency.
  • Lead cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing governance structures, risk management frameworks, and overall corporate integrity.
  • Support the continuous improvement of internal controls by collaborating with various teams to identify gaps and implement effective corrective actions.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in compliance management within the insurance or financial services sector is essential for success in this role.
  • A deep understanding of local and international regulatory frameworks governing insurance operations is required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills are necessary for building trust-based relationships with colleagues at all levels as well as external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to interpret complex legislation into clear policies that can be easily understood by non-specialists is highly valued.
  • Experience conducting audits or risk assessments with meticulous attention to detail is important for identifying vulnerabilities early on.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are needed for preparing reports, delivering presentations, and facilitating training sessions effectively.
  • A track record of handling sensitive investigations discreetly while maintaining fairness demonstrates your commitment to ethical standards.
  • Strong organisational abilities enable you to manage multiple priorities simultaneously without compromising quality or deadlines.
  • Familiarity with digital tools used in compliance monitoring or reporting would be advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Professional certifications such as CCEP (Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional) or similar qualifications are desirable but not required.
