What you'll do:

As a Cost Controller based in Jakarta within the coal mining and transportation industry, you will play an essential role in ensuring that operational spending remains efficient and aligned with organisational goals. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve close collaboration with various departments to monitor costs associated with mining activities such as hauling routes or barge loading points. You will be responsible for preparing insightful reports that guide management decisions while supporting audits through meticulous documentation. By maintaining data integrity in ERP systems and championing digitalisation efforts for improved tracking tools, you will contribute directly to the company's financial health. Success in this role requires not only technical proficiency but also strong interpersonal skills as you work together with colleagues from Operations, Mining Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Finance, and Project Teams.

  • Monitor, analyse, and report operating costs across all aspects of mining operations including overburden removal, hauling, stockpiling, crushing, barging, and shipping to ensure alignment with budgets.
  • Evaluate daily, weekly, and monthly cost performance against established forecasts while identifying variances and recommending actionable improvements for greater efficiency.
  • Track contractor costs, fuel consumption rates, equipment operating hours, and other high-impact drivers to maintain robust financial oversight.
  • Assist in the preparation and consolidation of annual budgets as well as rolling forecasts by validating assumptions related to production volumes, fuel usage, maintenance schedules, manpower requirements, and logistics plans.
  • Conduct scenario analysis to assess the cost impact of changes in production plans or operational strategies so that management can make informed decisions.
  • Ensure all cost allocations comply with company policies and industry standards by reviewing submissions from contractors for adherence to contract terms and service-level agreements.
  • Implement and maintain rigorous cost-control procedures for materials procurement, spare parts inventory management, fuel usage monitoring, and third-party services engagement.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing comprehensive documentation of cost-related activities while maintaining transparency throughout the process.
  • Prepare detailed daily, weekly, and monthly cost reports for management review that highlight trends, risks, and opportunities for further optimisation.
  • Maintain high levels of data accuracy within ERP or cost-control systems by reconciling information with Finance and Operations teams; support digitalisation initiatives aimed at improving cost-tracking tools.
