What you'll do:
As an Assistant Finance Control Manager based in Jakarta, you will play a central role in guiding the financial operations of your region or cluster. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve managing a talented team within the Shared Services Centre General Ledger Accounting function. You will be entrusted with upholding rigorous standards for financial reporting under both IFRS and local GAAP frameworks while continuously seeking ways to optimise processes through automation. By maintaining strong internal controls and proactively mitigating risks, you will ensure that all financial information is complete, accurate, and reliable. Your ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at every level—local markets as well as regional and global finance teams—will be essential as you provide timely analysis and support. Working closely with the Finance Controlling Manager, you will help drive strategic improvements across the general ledger function by leveraging data insights. You will also collaborate with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams for integrated process management. Overseeing annual audits for your region or cluster will be another key aspect of your role. Finally, you will nurture talent within your team through mentorship and training initiatives that foster a culture of continuous learning.
- Lead and manage the Shared Services Centre General Ledger Accounting team within your assigned region or cluster, ensuring all general ledger functions are executed accurately, efficiently, and on time.
- Oversee IFRS reporting and ensure full compliance with local GAAP requirements by optimising processes and championing automation initiatives.
- Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard the integrity of financial close procedures, proactively identifying risks and ensuring reliability of all financial information.
- Review financial data updates for profit & loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports, and any additional appendices required by global finance teams, addressing queries promptly.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for your region or cluster, providing insightful analysis and guidance to stakeholders across global, regional, and local finance teams.
- Collaborate closely with the Finance Controlling Manager to drive continuous improvement within the general ledger function by tracking key performance indicators and implementing process enhancements.
- Work alongside Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams to ensure seamless integration of processes and data for optimal efficiency.
- Oversee annual audit exercises for your region or cluster, ensuring timely sign-off and filing of financial statements in accordance with country-specific timelines.
- Support strategic initiatives related to Shared Services Centre goals by overseeing end-to-end processes involving general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
- Mentor, train, and develop team members within your region or cluster to build a high-performing group focused on continuous learning, collaboration, open communication, and shared accountability.
What you bring:
To excel as an Assistant Finance Control Manager in Jakarta, you will bring substantial experience gained from progressive roles within finance or accounting—ideally including exposure to both Big 4 environments and commercial settings such as FMCG or retail. Your academic background should include at least a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (with CPA/CA credentials being advantageous). You will have demonstrated success leading teams within Shared Services Centres or similar structures. Your technical expertise spans accounting principles (including internal controls), SAP system proficiency, and comprehensive knowledge of international financial reporting standards. Communication skills are paramount: you can connect easily with colleagues from diverse backgrounds at local market level as well as regional/global functions. Strategic thinking comes naturally to you—you see how daily activities fit into larger organisational goals—and you possess advanced analytical capabilities that enable effective problem-solving. - Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field is required; CPA or CA qualification is preferred for this position.
- A minimum of seven years' progressive experience in finance and accounting is essential; prior exposure to Big 4 firms or commercial experience in FMCG/Retail sectors is highly desirable.
- At least two years' experience in a team leadership role is necessary; previous involvement in Shared Services Centre environments is highly preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles including internal controls; proficiency in SAP systems is expected along with strong knowledge of financial reporting requirements.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills are vital; fluency in English is required along with proven ability to build rapport across diverse teams at Shared Services Centres as well as regional/global levels.
- Demonstrated ability in strategic planning coupled with sound decision-making skills; capacity to align team efforts with broader organisational objectives is important.
