Commercial Finance Senior Manager (FMCG)
A leading organisation in Jakarta is seeking a Commercial Finance Senior Manager to play a pivotal role in shaping the commercial strategy and supporting business growth. This position offers you the chance to work closely with Sales and Marketing Directors, acting as a trusted advisor and co-pilot in driving strategic decisions across new product development and market expansion.
The company is committed to fostering an inclusive environment where your expertise is valued, and your professional development is supported through ongoing training opportunities and flexible working arrangements. If you are passionate about making a tangible impact on business outcomes while enjoying a supportive network and growth leadership, this is the perfect opportunity for you.
- Work directly with senior commercial leaders to influence key business decisions and drive profitable growth across multiple channels, leveraging your finance expertise to support both short-term wins and long-term strategy.
- Enjoy flexible working opportunities and access to continuous training programmes designed to enhance your skills, ensuring you remain at the forefront of industry best practices while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
- Join a collaborative team culture that values inclusivity, knowledge sharing, and supportive leadership, providing you with the resources and encouragement needed to thrive in your career journey.
What you'll do:
As a Commercial Finance Senior Manager based in Jakarta, you will immerse yourself in a highly collaborative environment where your analytical acumen will directly shape commercial outcomes. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve partnering with senior leaders across sales and marketing functions to evaluate new business ventures and optimise existing revenue streams. You will lead critical processes such as Integrated Business Planning while providing comprehensive performance monitoring that goes beyond numbers—telling the story behind each metric. By proactively identifying risks and seizing emerging opportunities, you will help steer the commercial strategy towards sustainable growth. Your ability to leverage advanced ERP systems and data visualisation tools will empower stakeholders with timely insights. Success in this role hinges on your capacity for cross-functional teamwork, your commitment to continuous improvement in revenue management practices, and your enthusiasm for nurturing an inclusive workplace culture.
- Act as a trusted co-pilot to Sales and Marketing Directors by evaluating complex business cases for new product launches and market expansion initiatives, ensuring all recommendations are grounded in robust financial analysis.
- Analyse pricing strategies and value-to-volume trade-offs to identify actionable opportunities for improving gross margin through optimised pack-price architecture.
- Review the effectiveness of promotional activities by conducting thorough ROI analyses, ensuring that investments such as 'buy-one-get-one' campaigns contribute positively to profitability rather than just increasing volume.
- Lead the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process for the commercial function, aligning sales targets with realistic financial goals and facilitating cross-functional collaboration throughout budgeting cycles.
- Monitor key performance indicators including Net Revenue, Market Share, and Contribution Margin, providing insightful narratives that explain underlying trends and inform future actions.
- Proactively identify potential financial risks such as commodity price fluctuations or supply chain disruptions, as well as unexpected opportunities like surges in demand, enabling agile adjustments to commercial strategies mid-quarter.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including marketing, sales, supply chain, and operations to ensure seamless execution of financial plans and alignment with overall business objectives.
- Champion best practices in revenue management by continuously reviewing pricing models, discount structures, and promotional mechanics to maximise value creation for the organisation.
- Utilise advanced ERP systems (such as SAP or Oracle) alongside data visualisation tools like Power BI or Tableau to deliver clear, actionable insights that support decision-making at all levels of the business.
What you bring:
To excel as a Commercial Finance Senior Manager in this organisation, you will bring extensive experience from finance roles where you have partnered closely with commercial teams—ideally within fast-moving consumer goods or retail sectors. Your academic background will include a relevant degree complemented by professional qualifications that underscore your technical expertise. You are adept at navigating sophisticated ERP systems for end-to-end financial management while harnessing advanced Excel capabilities for deep-dive analytics. Your interpersonal strengths shine through when translating intricate data into compelling stories that resonate across departments. You thrive in environments where collaboration is paramount; your reliability makes you a go-to resource during critical planning cycles. Experience with ROI analysis on trade spend activities further distinguishes your profile. Above all, your proactive mindset allows you to anticipate challenges before they arise—ensuring that both risks are mitigated swiftly and opportunities are seized promptly.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience within finance roles, including at least 2 years specifically focused on business partnering or commercial finance within FMCG or retail environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics is required; holding a professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA or CIMA is highly preferred for this position.
- Demonstrated proficiency in using ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle for financial planning, reporting, and analysis within large organisations.
- Advanced Excel skills are essential for managing complex datasets; familiarity with data visualisation platforms like Power BI or Tableau would be considered an advantage.
- Exceptional influencing abilities combined with strong storytelling skills enable you to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
- Proven track record of collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams while maintaining a high level of dependability under tight deadlines.
- Experience conducting detailed ROI analyses on promotional activities within consumer goods sectors is highly desirable.
- Ability to monitor key performance indicators such as net revenue and contribution margin while providing actionable insights that drive strategic decisions.
- A proactive approach towards risk identification coupled with sensitivity towards emerging market trends ensures agility in adapting commercial strategies.
